Inspired by a lifelong love of nature, I launched Green Room Flowers in 2020 whilst the theatre scene was (is!) decidedly on hold. After attending a course at Covent Garden’s Academy of Flowers, I spent five years honing my skills in florist shops and for private clients alongside my career as a stage manager.

The name ‘Green Room Flowers’ is an amalgamation of the theatre’s Green Room - a space for people to come together and relax - and the colour we most associate with plants and nature

I've always felt a great affinity with the outdoors, and have long been captivated by nature's resilience and ingenuity, especially plants. The greatest excitement for me is seeing the first shoots pop up from a germinating seed tray. For a long time now, I've had a dream of self sufficiency which, although a little way off, I am working towards, and growing my own flowers is a part of that.

When lockdown hit in 2020, I took on some land on which to grow flowers and started doing pop-up-shops which proved to be a great way to get to know my customers and engage with the local community. It was a really valuable learning opportunity for me as, although I'd grown flowers and veg in the garden, I'd never done it on any scale before. I've learnt a lot in the last year and am really excited to see what happens next. I've since acquired some more growing space on a different site and hope to be far more floriferous this year!
